Fully Subsidised Hearing Aids – Behind the Ear Style
Eligible pensioners may be entitled to fully subsidized hearing aids under the Commonwealth Hearing Services Program.
You are eligible for the voucher scheme if you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident or live on Norfolk Island, are aged 21 years or older, and are:
- a pensioner concession card holder or their spouse
- a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Gold Card holder or their spouse
- a DVA White Card holder (hearing-specific conditions) or their spouse
- a member of the Australian Defence Force
- referred by a Disability Employment Service

Ability Hearing and Balance is a fully independent Tasmanian hearing clinic. We are not tied to any manufacturers. This means we will help you select the most appropriate hearing aid for your hearing needs. There are currently hundreds of “free” pension hearing aids available. Being an independent clinic means that our patients receive hearing aids with the most features available on the government list. Of course, every person is different, the hearing aid shown here is a guide only and we can discuss your own individual choice at your appointment.
