Your audiologist will investigate your tinnitus and hearing, explore how tinnitus is affecting your everyday life and develop an individual treatment plan.
Depending on your assessment, this may include:

- Lenire bimodal neuromodulation
- hearing rehabilitation
- tinnitus counselling and psychotherapy
- other appropriate tinnitus management strategies
Lenire may form an important part of that plan — but you don’t need to decide whether you want Lenire before coming to see us.
Lenire is an at-home tinnitus treatment device that uses bimodal neuromodulation.
It delivers two forms of stimulation at the same time:
Bluetooth headphones deliver audio customised by your healthcare professional.
The Lenire Tonguetip contains 32 small electrodes that deliver mild electrical pulses to the surface of the tongue.
A handheld controller coordinates the sound and tongue stimulation and allows you to control your treatment sessions.
Your Lenire settings are individually configured by your audiologist following an appropriate tinnitus assessment and confirmation that Lenire is suitable for you.
Lenire combines sound stimulation through headphones with gentle electrical stimulation of the tongue.
This simultaneous stimulation is known as bimodal neuromodulation.
The paired stimulation is designed to encourage changes in the brain’s response to tinnitus, helping reduce the attention paid to the tinnitus signal and its impact on everyday life.
Lenire is used at home following assessment, prescription and individual set-up by a qualified healthcare professional.

What happens if I choose Lenire?
1. Comprehensive tinnitus assessment
Your journey begins with a detailed tinnitus and hearing assessment.
We investigate your tinnitus, its impact and relevant contributing factors before developing your individual treatment plan.
There is no obligation to purchase Lenire following your assessment.
2. Your individual treatment plan
We’ll explain our findings and discuss the treatment options we believe are appropriate for you.
If sound therapy forms part of your management plan, we can discuss Lenire alongside other available approaches.
3. Lenire fitting and personalisation
If you decide to proceed with Lenire and it is appropriate for you, your audiologist will fit and configure the device for your individual needs and show you how to use your treatment at home.
4. Your three-month treatment period
Lenire is designed to be used at home over a treatment period.
But your tinnitus care doesn’t have to stop while you’re using Lenire.
Additional tinnitus treatment sessions can be scheduled during this period where appropriate, allowing us to continue working on other areas identified in your individual management plan.
5. Review your progress
At the completion of your treatment period, we can assess your progress, review your tinnitus outcomes and determine what — if any — further management would be beneficial.
Lenire has been studied in several large clinical trials involving more than 500 people with tinnitus.
Neuromod’s clinical program includes the TENT-A1 and TENT-A2 studies and the controlled TENT-A3 trial comparing bimodal treatment with sound-only stimulation. Real-world outcomes have also been reported from patients treated in independent clinical settings.
